not sure where the golf course would be...

OK KITP'ers... a matter of critical opinion for you. Which picture works better for you?

I prefer the one in the bottom. Gives a better sense of space. Has more depth. More colors. More stuff. I like this picture.

yup...yer wanderin' thru my neighborhood, alright--you should stay awhile. when you're ready to make a commitment, take a look at "Niagara" by Alec Soth

Yeah, but, for argument's sake: what about juxtaposition? The top one is totally devoid of anything country clubbish. It's very flat, rigid, lifeless. The blue sky and red brick of the bottom one make the photo more cheerful and therefore less oppositional to the anti-preppy country club idea that I think you're trying to communicate (?). My vote's for #1 . The crop makes it look more like a prison.

one looks better...fuck that nonsense about letting the image breathe...dont give the viewer anywhere to go.

I'm thinking #2 for context, but the power lines at the top of the shot are getting me. Because of these, I might think about using #1 - or just PS them out?

A person might add some nice depth to this shot. Someone going in/out perhaps.
