italian in my previous life

Experimenting with lighting. One strobe bouncing out of an umbrella then through a sheet of white paper. See below for Strobist-style diagram photo.

(Anyone still looking this blog???)

Nice result! The light looks so natural I can almost feel an open window with a fresh breeze coming in... The food makes me want to sing "Bella ciao" or something.

Oh, it was me (Flavia) who wrote the previous comment.

Ah, Italia. This definitely reminds me of my grandmother saying, "All you need to remember are the colors of the flag: tomato, garlic and parsley (or oregano, or basil)."

Great job. Lighting, once again is beautiful. But I think the garlic needs to be more in focus, because I can't tell if it's cheese. Maybe it is cheese? I guess it depends if you want to leave us guessing or not.

What I can see (or imagine) is: tomato (pomodori pelati), basil, garlic, salt and parmiggiano (hey! where's the pepper?).
Maybe I'd leave the salt only in the spoon (not on the board) and I'd get a bigger and more triangular or irregular-shaped piece of parmiggiano, if you really want me to be picky.
I wouldn't change the light, though, it's lovely. And that was the point of the exercise, I guess.
I really like this picture, don't be wrong, but it's a KITP blog, right?
Do you realize that I'm writing this at 1am, almost? I must be out of my mind. Night-night.
