Well I always wanted a blog for the KITP group so great work, Emily on getting it started!
Here's my first contribution- an exercise in lighting which is an area I'm working on improving.
Looking forward to seeing what you all are working on too!

Hi Em - We thought you'd appreciate us all talking about your work, so here are some comments from last night:
ess_7477: Notice where the edge of the mat hits the top of the tea canister. Try to break the line of the mat with the canister. Flavia thought you should shoot the canister more straight on than from the downward angle. That would help you break that line too. Sal thought you should move the cup over to the left, but I like the placement of the cup's handle.
ess_7478: Try getting on "eye level" with the canister.
ess_7470: Love the contrast of textures. Flavia really liked this one - as compared to ess_7467 where there's a lot of reflection of light in the mat. I like the perspective lines the mat creates in that one, but the light looks a little too hot on the oranges.
egg: Flavia, Erin and I love this shot. Sal was half and half. We still think you should break the horizon line. Beautiful lighting. We thought it was natural!
Thanks for sharing. I love your enthusiasm. Keep shooting ~ we want to see more!

Thanks everyone! Those comments are great. I've never worried about 'horizon lines...' I will think about that in the future!
